Northern Bioscience provides environmental and technical services to the mining, aggregate, and oil sands sectors. We have assisted in a variety of capacities at all stages of development, from early exploration by junior mining companies through to established mines at closure.


Our services include:

  • environmental baseline studies (design, implementation, and/or peer review) including fish, wildlife, and vegetation
  • Environmental Assessment (both individual and panel EAs)
  • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Level I and II Natural Environment reports for quarries and aggregate pits (preparation and peer review)
  • habitat modelling and mapping
  • Species At Risk Mitigation Plans and development of Overall Benefit Permits, (e.g., Woodland Caribou, Bats, Eastern Whip-poor-will)
  • road construction (routing) and water crossings
  • environmental permitting, approvals, and registering an activity (OMNRF)
  • Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) for existing mines e.g., fish growth/health and benthic macroinvertebrate community indices
  • site rehabilitation and remediation (e.g., closure plans)
  • indigenous, stakeholder, and government communication/consultation
